NCAA Baskteball Odds: Davidson Wildcats at No 6 Duke Blue Devils
Friday, November 18, 2011
Frank Martin
Now that coach Mike Krzyzewski has slipped past Bobby Knight and into first place on the all-time wins list, sixth-ranked Duke can go back to concentrating on getting its coach a fifth National Championship.
The Duke Blue Devils struggled to close out Michigan State on Tuesday, leaving Krzyzewski to sweat his 903rd career win a bit more than he would have liked. Highly-touted freshman Austin Rivers struggled during a 1-of-7 shooting night and the Plumlee brothers combined for only eight points up front, leaving most of the heavy lifting to Seth Curry and Andre Dawkins.
Duke, which struggled with experienced mid-major Belmont in its opener, will face a similar test when it hosts Davidson Wildcats on Friday. The Wildcats return seven of their top eight scorers and were picked to win the Southern Conference.

The Blue Devils have opened as 18.5-point favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Basketball Odds.
Davidson Wildcats (2-0): The alma mater of Curry’s older brother and current NBA star Stephen Curry, the Wildcats are no strangers to big-time competition. Davidson will face seven opponents that played in the NCAA Tournament last season. The Wildcats are coming off a 74-61 win over Richmond, which advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last season. Jake Cohen led the way with 22 points against the Spiders, moving him within 159 points of 1,000 for his career. Fellow junior J.P. Kuhlman is 160 point away from 1,000.
Duke Blue Devils (3-0): The Blue Devils made it easy on their coach by winning their first three games and not dragging out the milestone. Now Krzyzewski can focus on getting more production from Miles Plumlee, who has been held under five points in two of Duke’s first three games. Younger brother Mason slipped into single digits for the first time Tuesday against the Spartans. The bright spot was Dawkins, a junior who played a career-high 38 minutes and responded with 26 points.
1.
Davidson is 13-78 all-time against
ranked teams, including losses in seven straight.
2. Duke has won 38 straight games at Cameron Indoor Stadium and 88
straight non-conference games at home.
3. The
Blue Devils have won 58 in a row against unranked opponents.
